WESTERN AUSTRALIA POLICE HISTORICAL SOCIETY (WAPHS) — THE YEAR AHEAD!
A number of projects, events and general running of the WAPHS hinge on the support of our main partner the WA Police Force (WAPF). After all, we occupy crown land administered by a lease arrangement with the WAPF.
Having been gifted a number of decommissioned police vehicles by the WAPF last year, we now have to ensure that they are placed under cover with proper security measures in place. This is a significant project.
We have finally been able to clear all of the approval hurdles and will be able to progress the two shed extensions at our facility situated at 57 Lincoln Street Highgate. Soon, after many years suffering the eyesore of non-compliant sea containers, we will see them emptied of all valuable sourced material before being removed from the site and given back to the WAPF. Another very big task!
Researching and preserving WA Police History is our objective and recently we received great news recently that all of the old Betacam and U-matic tapes are to be digitised by the WAPF Audio Visual Team at Cross Justice Support. This will enable future viewing of some fantastic events and incidents going back to the late 1970s.
